What we do
RSVP volunteers are involved in all manner of projects which benefit the community. Some are listed below, and are described in detail elsewhere in this site.
- Education: children benefit greatly from the individual attention and help that volunteers can give them, from reading and number work to sports and out-of-school activities.
- Environment: volunteers help to maintain the quality of our environment, in projects ranging from maintaining and improving public spaces to providing domestic gardening services.
- Health & Social Care: volunteers assist with non-medical tasks in hospitals and surgeries, and provide support to sick, frail or elderly people and others.
- Heritage: our volunteers can be found working with such organisations as the National Trust and local museums, as well as actively helping to uncover and record the evidence of the past.
- Knitting: volunteers make a variety of knitted goods for needy causes, notably clothing for premature babies and trauma teddies for children in distress.
- Other opportunities: activities in RSVP are by no means limited to these few areas - if a volunteering project benefits the community then we are pleased to be involved.
